MARCH 2010 - THE SOCIAL GROUP IS "STICKING IT TO THE MAN" & URGING EVERYONE TO GIVE A BOOST TO THE LOCAL ECONOMY!

A MONTH LONG CELEBRATION OF ‘SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL’!

LOCAL PUBS * FAMILY-RUN RESTAURANTS * UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL BUSINESSES

All events open to members in all areas! Come out, enjoy yourself, & help local people!

The idea of this is to encourage support for individuals, little firms, small players, local producers, farmers markets, family-run restaurants, local shops, the corner store, privately-owned pubs, and everything that is unique and individual in our culture.

These days, the Davids face an apparently impossible battle to compete with the Goliaths... When it comes to eating out, more and more, the same big chains are in every town - MacDonalds, KFC, Ask, Pizza Hut, Prezzo, Pizza Express, Chiquito, Zizzi, Bella Italia, Café Rouge, Old Orleans, TGI Fridays, Frankie & Benny’s, Nando’s, etc. The likes of the big pub chains such as Wetherspoons are looking for still more sites for pubs, while non-brewery owned freehouse local pubs are constantly closing down and being lost. Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda, etc. are constantly expanding - while up to 100 local shops a day are closing. In rural areas, many villages have been left without a single store and many have lost their post offices and pubs as well. While urban suburbs that once had thriving local shops only feature the lifeless, the graffiti-ridden, and the boarded up.

All losses of local services mean losses of local jobs and people needing to travel further afield.

Here at Social Group Enterprises Ltd. we run a unique local business, and we have first hand experience of all the issues, and of how challenging it has been to run a small business in recent years, with no support from the government and things just getting harder and harder for everyone. High costs, high taxes, expensive petrol, expensive utility bills, high bank charges, and ever more regulation. While the country has been put in debt to the tune of countless billions to help banks and big business, small local firms have received nothing and left to struggle through the recession.

We are also aware that the increasing lack of choice and individuality is arousing concerns, and for many, it’s beginning to feel like you can’t work for yourself and be your own boss any more!

What a sad state of affairs it will be if we all have to either work for big brother government or for big business, and all inventiveness and individuality is lost, or is just not economically viable any more.

Of course we enjoy the occasional Big Mac and Bargain Bucket, of course we find it convenient to shop at Sainsbury’s, and of course we rate many of the chain restaurants - we have no wish to knock success stories. No, we’re not saying big boys don’t have an important role in the modern economy. In many cases, we applaud how they have upped standards, with us frequently recognizing their contributions and seeing it as beneficial for everyone. However, we are sure everyone agrees that it’s not desirable to just want everything in this country to be run by the government or by big national and multi-national chains, especially firms where all the profits go elsewhere, out of the local economy, and often out of the country!

What we want to do this month is remind people that small local firms also have a place! This March, please do all you can to give local firms your full support and a much needed boost to their businesses! As much as you can this month, please do all you can to spend your money in locally owned shops, restaurants, pubs, etc.

AS FAR AS IS POSSIBLE, OUR MARCH EVENTS PROGRAMME WILL SUPPORT AND CELEBRATE ALL THAT IS LOCAL, INDIVIDUAL, UNIQUE, DIFFERENT, FAMILY-RUN, SPECIAL, PRIVATE, INDEPENDENT, ETC.

So for March 2010, please support our efforts to support the local economy and STICK IT TO THE MAN!

SNOW WAY THAT WAS A GOOD FORECAST!

WEATHER FORECASTERS GET IT WRONG!

The MET OFFICE & TV weather forecasts for DEEP SNOW with an 'EXTREME WEATHER WARNING' for West Devon & Dartmoor on 12th / 13th January 2010 failed to materialise. There was a stormy wind, but no more than a little light rain and snow, which did not settle.

There was some snow along the A38 around Haldon Hill / Exeter and in East Devon, which caused disruption to raod traffic last night.

But the forecast for West Devon was completely wrong. In West Devon, through the day and overnight, snow actually melted and there is now less snow than at any time for weeks! Completely contrary to what the Exeter-based Met Office predicted, we have not all woken up to deep snow and huge drifts!

This morning the BBC Devon web site is still stating, "The A386 is still closed both ways at Mary Tavy near Tavistock." This is not true, as this photograph taken outside Mary Tavy Post Office shortly after dawn shows! The A386 is open, with lots of cars using it and the usual big lorries speeding through Mary Tavy village. In fact, there is less snow here than for weeks. Why BBC and ITV would be saying the A386 is closed we cannot see, not unless they were expecting it to be, based not on reality, but on the Met Office forecast that turned out to be so very wrong!

You may have a gang of friends... but do you meet new people from all walks of life every week?

Only Devon Social Group has a vast social network of the nicest people in Devon, with new people joining our "group of friends" all the time!

No-one works harder to look after our existing membership. No-one works harder to bring in new people and make new members feel welcome and included.

Over the years we've seen lots of amateur copycat little local clubs and cliques set up as "flavour of the month", only to close down a short time later and let all their followers down. Some are not run properly, some break the law and get shut down, some are elitist and don't make everyone welcome, some are too dull, and some are just not very good.

They do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. (They also say that imitation means someone is not bright enough to come up with their own ideas!) For our part, we just feel sorry for the people they delude and ultimately leave in the the lurch when they get into trouble or go bust.

Devon Social Group was the first, this was our own groundbreaking brand new concept, from the start we always treated everyone fairly, we always made absolutely sure that we ran the organisation within the law, we gave up our day jobs to dedicate ourselves to running this full-time, we always went the extra mile to look after our customers, we always treated everyone not only as clients but also as our friends, and while being fun we always made sure this was respectable and everyone was safe.

In addition, Devon Social Group has always offered extra value, with a FREE magazine for new members, more events, more discounts, and more work put into making sure we offer a unique service that you can't find anywhere else! That's why there is ONLY Devon Social Group!

So while "shabby singles clubs" and "dodgy dating agency" type things have been set up again and again in a blaze of publicity, and always come and gone, Devon Social Group is still here. Over the years, we've met so many lovely people and it's been very rewarding to see such a large number of people get so much out of all we do. To be honest, even the people who joined Devon Social Group who were a bit unfair and unrealistic and who didn't get on particularly well with us personally, all seem to have made friendships out of this - and naturally we are pleased for each of you, as there's nothing better than for all our hard work to mean something and for people to get so much out of it!

Remarkably, this has now gone even further. The dedication put into this by the organisers has not only changed life for the better for so many people, has not only helped countless thousands of people to find new friends, and has not only has it led to numerous relationships, weddings and new families... But our efforts with The Social Group have actually changed the culture and even our language - with us popularising the terms "Social Event", "Social Opportunities", "Social Activities", "Social Entrepreneurs", "Social Enterprise", "Social Networking", and of course "Social Group"!

In fact, with Social Networking now being all the rage, our many years of hard work and good intentions in devising and developing The Social Group have managed to change the world!

Yes, it started right here! It's hard to imagine these days, but when we started Devon Social Group as the first part of The Social Group all the way back in 1997, people actually queried what we meant by our use of the word "social" in this context! "Social" wasn't a word that was widely used anywhere (except with the British Government's "Social Services" of course), and it was hard for people to grasp the idea we had come up with as a mechanism in society to help put people in touch with each other.

All these years later, it seems we've really had an impact on the whole planet - with the concept of social networking and socialising now being such a big thing! It's quite something!

Of course, our concept of social networking, in actually organising social events, dining out, parties, themed events, outdoor activities, and holidays that people can come along to by themselves and particpate in with a ready-made "group of friends", is still miles ahead of online social network sites which when you think about it are actually just about sitting typing. So, if you are looking for friends and opportunities to socialise with nice people in the real world, you know you have come to the right place! It's hard to believe these days that back in 1997, when Andrew Haglington started up THE SOCIAL GROUP, that there wasn't such a thing as social groups or social networking web sites! Even the word "social" was hardly used at all, certainly not in the sense it is now.

THE SOCIAL GROUP was the first and the original. It began with Devon Social Group, then Cornwall Social Group, then Social Group Holidays, then Somerset Social Group, and then Bristol & Bath Social Group. Thousands of people all across the South West of England thought it was a fabulous idea - just what had been missing in their life - and decided it was for them!

Today, the widespread use of the word "social" in the media and on the internet can all be traced back to Andrew Haglington's brilliant original concept back in 1997, when nothing like this had ever been done before!

It all started off with Andrew suffering some really nasty ill health during the 1990's and after his first wife left him at his lowest point, came out of his efforts to rebuild a life for himself and make some new friends. After experiencing just how tough life could be, it occured to Andrew that what was needed was a ready-made 'group of friends' to go out with and an organised social life which everyone could enjoy together. Andrew had seen there was something missing in society, a mechanism for socialising and making friends - so he set out to fill the hole, and make life better for people - and the rest, as they say, is history!

For Andrew, fighting to get back his health and doing so much for others went hand in hand. Going from 'ZERO TO HERO' didn't happen overnight - it took many long years of hard work and much trial and error to get it right. But perserverance won through in the end and today people regularly stop Andrew in the street to thank him and say The Social Group has transformed their lives!

As well as helping countless thousands of people to have fun and find new friends, lots of single people have met someone special and found romance. Andrew himself met his second wife Cathy through The Social Group, and there cannot be any better testimonial to this being something remarkable than that, with Andrew and Cathy now running The Social Group together.

The local "A CELEBRATION OF ASIA" Festival being organised by Devon Social Group & Cornwall Social Group got underway with members of the organisation enjoying fireworks of Chinese origin on Plymouth Hoe on November 5th, a visit to the Japanese Gardens & Bonsai Nursery at St. Mawgan on November 7th, a visit to the Museum of East Asian Art in Bath on November 8th, and a Social Group Dinner Party at Jasmine Chinese Restaurant at Yelverton on November 11th.

An oriental cookery lesson takes place at a later date, and there is a group holiday planned to Thailand next February. The photo here is of the hotel you will be staying at in Thailand if you book to come with us.

With Social Group organisers just back from running a group holiday to The Caribbean & Central America, and with a host of traditional English Christmas Parties looming in December, it's another busy month in the middle for Social Group directors Andrew & Cathy Haglington who have run the well-known locally-based socialising organisation in Devon & Cornwall since 1997.

The idea of the Asian celebration and a whole range of social events and dinner parties at Asian restaurants originally came from wanting to contrast the food of this month with traditional festive English cuisine and the thought of too many turkey dinners in December, but it soon developed into a more profound look at all that the people of Asia have contributed to the culture and cuisine of South West England.

Social Group founder Andrew Haglington says he feels it is overdue that we gave more recognition to all the Chinese, Indian, Thai, Japanese, etc. restaurants here in Devon & Cornwall, which are some of the best value and most popular in the region and alongside all our local and European restaurants offers us so much extra diversity of cuisine. "I feel that we have come to take Chinese and Indian food for granted to some extent," says Andrew, who dines out more than most while hosting dinner parties for members of The Social Group. "In my own view, I think the South West has a superb variety of exotic cuisine to offer, with Asian restaurants giving us so much extra choice. When you travel to many other countries around the world, there's often far less choice of cuisine. Across in France, sometimes all you can get is French food. In some parts of America, all you can get is American food. And so on... While here in South West England, not only have we local English pubs and restaurants, but all these amazing dishes to try from other parts of the world. The idea of this special Asia month has been to recognise what's on offer and celebrate it."

The Social Group's month long Asian-themed social events aim to do just this, with a wide variety of social events including dining out at a whole variety of Asian restaurants with good company from other Social Group members looking to get out, enjoy themselves, and have a good time together.

Devon Social Group & Cornwall Social Group offer a ready-made 'group of friends' to go out with, where anyone can join in with the company. It's a great way to meet people, make friends, gain in confidence, and enjoy a better social life. And most of all, it's all about having fun together.

Andrew & Cathy say their own favourite Asian foods include Thai Tom Ka Soup, Char Sui Bao Dim Sum Pork Buns, Sweet & Sour Pork Cantonese Style, Yuk Sung Chinese Minced Pork in Lettuce, and Chicken Shashlik Indian Tandoori. But their tips are for people to try different things on menus and not go for the same every time.

Cathy says, "I think sometimes people would get more out of an Indian restaurant meal if they tried more than just the standard korma and tikka masala curries all the time. Personally I would suggest trying something like a bhuna, biriani, Indian Tandoori mixed grill, murug makhani, or Nepalese lamb type dish."

"When it comes to Chinese restaurants, the advantage to dining out with a group of course is that we can all share a multi-dish banquet or feast, where you get to try all sorts of different food. We did this at the Jasmine Restaurant in Yelverton this week and everyone enjoyed some really delicious food. Plus, it’s really enjoyable to get-together, having some good company and intelligent conversation. And of course, dining out with a group of friends is a much nicer way to sample all our fabulous local restaurants have to offer than just sitting in by yourself with a take-away. In our view, life has to be more than just WORK-TELLY-SLEEP, and both Andrew and I feel it does everyone good to get out from in front of the computer and socialise with real people."

We boarded our eagerly awaited voyage unprepared for our first breathtaking sight of the floating resort Andrew & Cathy had booked for us, an awesome 15 storey, 110,000 ton vessel carrying 3500 passengers and 1200 crew.

On board the ship there was never a dull moment, with 22 bars and lounges, two swimming pools, jacuzzis, water slide, spa, mini golf course, jogging track, table tennis, internet café, full sized theatre, numerous restaurants, sunbathing on deck, and a giant LCD screen loomed over Lido Deck’s swimming pool, showing pop concerts, movies and some of the 'fun' antics aboard our 'fun ship.'

The islands we visited were totally tropical Caribbean, with sunbathing on beautiful beaches, a feast of snorkelling on coral reefs, interesting sightseeing, and bargains to be had in the duty free shops. Iguanas posed for photographs under palm trees, with a backdrop of warm turquoise seas and white powder sand beaches. Welcome to paradise!

I especially enjoyed the Spanish / American city of San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Andrew & Cathy found us a free trolley ride around the city, followed by a look around the fascinating shops, then lots of fun at Senor Frogs lively bar, adorned with balloons and having our faces painted, and joining in with a friendly conga - yes that's right - in the middle of the afternoon!!

I would recommend this Social Group Holiday and would certainly love to do it all again. The food on the cruise was plentiful and delicious - including a self service buffet of gourmet delights, 24 hour pizzeria, Burrito bar, Sushi bar and even fish and chips - as much as you wanted, plus each evening we dined in style with 3 or 4 courses!

The ship was spotlessly clean. The dinner staff and the cabin staff were wonderful. We were thoroughly spoiled throughout the entire time. The en-suite cabins were spacious with ample room to walk around and plenty of space for clothes and toiletries etc., plus hair-dryers & TV.

The cruise was followed by time in South Beach Miami, topped by a wonderful meal at a place Andrew & Cathy recommended on the fashionable and elegant Lincoln Road, a very popular place with just about everyone. For me, the trip to the Everglades National Park where we saw alligators and took a ride on one of the famous airboats was another highlight, plus a boat trip around the homes of the 'rich and famous' in Miami.

All in all, a great time was had by everyone who took part. Highly recommended. Can't wait for my next cruise holiday with The Social Group! Thank you Andrew and Cathy for organising this wonderful holiday! It was great! Best wishes, Marjorie

Hello Everyone! Just to let you know, we are now back from the group holiday to the Caribbean & Florida. There will be photos displayed on the http://www.socialgroupholidays.com web site in due course, along with us catching up the backlog of photos from other events in all areas. So many events - so little time!

The Social Group Office is now re-open. Apologies for any inconvenience or delays while we were away. Over the next few days, we shall be working through the backlog of office work and doing our best to get up to speed. As soon as possible, we should have things back to normal. Your patience and understanding while we catch up is very much appreciated, thank you.

Due to the Royal Mail / Communication Workers Union dispute halting postal deliveries on some days and generally causing ongoing delays, please send any bookings by post earlier than normal in order to make sure we receive them in time, thank you.

Social Group organisers have been unwell for the last week and off work with a virus. According to the doctor, it is likely to have been the H1N1 Swine Flu virus.

All events scheduled to have taken place before Monday 14th September have been cancelled, as we have not been well enough to organise anything. Apologies for any temporary inconvenience.

WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR BUSINESS AS NORMAL - BUT BY POST ONLY.

Please note - telephone booking may not be available for a few days until we feel up to returning to work. We won't be out hosting social events in person until we are recovered, as we don't wish to pass this very nasty bug on to anyone else.

A large number of Social Group members enjoyed a terrific weekend in Torquay - and yes, we ordered the heatwave just for this! Some people enjoyed a whole weekend of events with time to sunbathe under palm trees by the pool, take time in the spa, or explore further into Torquay. Other members just came along for the Saturday night DINNER & DISCO SUMMER PARTY in our private function room. We were saddened to hear of the untimely death of Mr. Kevin Farleigh from Plymouth who was a member of DSG in the late 1990's. Kevin (pictured back left) kindly acted as spokesman for the group several times on interviews on BBC Radio Devon, which was much appreciated. The wedding of Adam & Rachel which took place last Saturday in Newton Abbot was another success for Devon Social Group organisers Andrew & Cathy, who themselves met through our socialising and friendship organisation.

Following divorce after becoming ill with M.E. and finding himself isolated and alone, Andrew started Devon’s ready-made 'group of friends' in 1997 with a view to enjoying good times with like-minded people. The idea was to provide a programme of social events for people and an instant ‘group of friends’ to enjoy it all with, with lots of nights out and dining out at local restaurants in Devon, as well as themed parties and dinner dances, and a whole variety of outdoor activities such as quad biking, archery, clay shooting, and abseiling. It was a unique and original concept, a fresh approach to meeting people and making friends, with the aim of encouraging people to enjoy life and having fun.

Cathy joined the group of friends in 1999 and ended up running the group with Andrew, who proposed to her in the middle of a Devon Social Group holiday at Red Rock Canyon, Nevada, USA, in 2002, the couple getting married on the spur of the moment on the holiday over the lights of the Las Vegas Strip at night in a helicopter, just 4 days later. Long term Devon Social Group member Adam from Exeter was one of the group of friends who was on the holiday with Andrew & Cathy, and who joined them on the 50th floor rooftop reception party at the exotic Rio Hotel afterwards to celebrate Andrew & Cathy’s wedding.

Adam, who also enjoyed trips to Malta and France with Devon Social Group, as well as many local social events, nights out, dinners and parties locally, went back with Andrew & Cathy to Las Vegas in 2004 and a second romance began when he met Rachel. After several years together, Adam & Rachel finally tied the knot at Forde House in Newton Abbot last week, with the reception at nearby Cockhaven Manor with family, friends, and other members of Devon Social Group. Andrew & Cathy said they were delighted for the newly married couple, and said they both felt very emotional at the wedding, seeing their friends who they had brought together get married and find happiness together. "We felt very honoured," says Andrew. "It is really special for them to find each other. They are both such nice people, a really good match for each other, and they deserve all the best in life. We are sure that everyone at Devon Social Group wishes Adam and Rachel every happiness together for the future."

Andrew, who was known for his artwork before starting Devon Social Group, painted a picture of the beautiful pool at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas as a special wedding present for Adam & Rachel as a personal reminder of where it all began. (pictured here...)

Adam & Rachel are currently taking their honeymoon in romantic Ireland.

Michael Jackson joining Devon Social Group?

The family of Michael Jackson, the pop superstar are reported to be moving to live in North Devon to escape the international media spotlight. The singer's older brother Tito Jackson, a judge in the BBC duet talent contest Just The Two Of Us, is reported to have been house hunting in the Barnstaple area for a permanent home for the family and has been out for dinner at the Fullam Chinese Restaurant - one of our own favourites in Barnstaple.

"We hope our house here will be a family hideaway where my brothers and sisters can escape the media attention when we need to," the 54 year old Tito Jackson told the North Devon Gazette, adding that the move would also make sense because of his television work in Britain. "My family love the wonderful countryside and friendly people here." Tito Jackson said that his brother superstar singer Michael Jackson likes North Devon a lot, as no-one bothers him here.

A few years ago Michael Jackson headlined a fundraising event organised by his friend Uri Geller at Devon's Exeter City Football Club. Since then, apparently all the superstar Jackson family have been to Devon in recent years, including superstar singer Janet Jackson, R&B group 3T featuring the three sons of Tito Jackson, nice guy Jermaine Jackson who recently starred in the infamous series of Celebrity Big Brother, and ultra-cool singer / producer Randy Jackson who is a popular judge on the sensation that is American Idol alongside Simon Cowell.

The story that the world famous Jackson family have already rented a house in Appledore and will be here from May recently brought North Devon national attention when mentioned on the Johnathon Ross Show, with Channel 4 apparently considering a reality TV show to tell the story of the world famous American family moving to live in a quiet part of the Devon countryside by the sea.

Of course Devon Social Group is ideal for people new to the area, and we have lots of members who have just moved here and are looking to meet people, find their feet and feel at home. What do you get when you swap a rural existence on a West Devon farm where the husband is trying to make a business of his expertise with birds of prey, with that of a modern Yorkshire family where the mum leads a second life in London as a well known glamour model?

CHANNEL 4's WIFE SWAP was back on form this week, with particular interest to us, with us having hired falconer David Buncle several times for Devon Social Group 'birds of prey' events, the next one being this May 2008 of course with our Dartmoor Ball & activity weekend - where you will not only be able to learn all about hawks, owls and falcons, but no doubt be able to ask David all about being on Wife Swap too!!

If you missed the show this week, viewers saw singing housewife Michelle Buncle, aged 37, of Higher Willsworthy Farm, near Peter Tavy, swap her green wellies for the lifestyle of Louise Sage (stage name Taylor Ray Lewis), aged 25, who lives in Darlington but spends a couple of days a week working in London as a glamour model.

Peter Tavy's David and Michelle Buncle and their six children bravely signed up for the programme after seeing an advert by the TV company appealing for families living unusual lives.

On the show, which for once was not too extreme, both couples came across as well-meaning normal decent people. Yes, they have different worlds, different views, different skills, and a different emphasis on life. But both couples showed kindness, consideration, and a determination to do their best for their families, one focussing on providing a good income and enjoying a nice home and the best of the modern world, and one reminding us all that spending time together is still as important as it ever was.

Congratulations to all involved! We can't wait for the next series!

Devon Social Group's Exmouth (Devon) to Exmouth (Western Australia) trip around the world, with flights to Perth and a 2,000 mile car journey up the west coast of Australia caught the attention of newspapers all around the world!!

Founder of the Social Group rescues 5 year old from freezing cold water!

It was a lovely sunny day in Devon and all over the region, people were out enjoying a Sunday lunch followed by a countryside stroll.

It was fortunate that Devon Social Group organiser Andrew Haglington was on hand when youngster Bryony Sweet plunged into the icy cold waters of a Dartmoor Leat leading off the River Tavy!

While the rest of the adults had walked on, Andrew was keeping an eye on the children, and was on the scene when the youngest, 5 year old Bryony Sweet from Uffculme, excitedly running ahead with the other children, slipped and fell into the deep water.

Bryony was muddy, cold, and in shock, very shaken by the experience, but otherwise unharmed.

Big thanks to Hollywood 'A list' film star Owen Wilson for taking a moment for us for Mary and Cathy to have their photo taken with him at the Hard Rock Hotel pool in Las Vegas, USA!

Owen's many films have included Shanghai Noon, Armageddon, Meet The Parents, Zoolander, Behind Enemy Lines, The Royal Tenenbaums, I-Spy, Starsky & Hutch, and Wedding Crashers.

Owen was born in Dallas, Texas, November 18th 1968. He has recently become one of Hollywood's hottest properties - in fact he was starring in three of the in-flight films on the way over to the States! Plus, when we met him, he was a really nice easy-going guy!

Devon Social Group Charity Fundraiser For Sufferers Of M.E. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

At a 'good deed' charity wine and cheese evening in Tavistock, Devon Social Group members raised Ł225 for sufferers of the severe illness M.E. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which is probably caused by pesticide chemical poisoning.

A big thank you to everyone who sent us a donation towards this good cause helping people right here in Devon. Proceeds went towards M.E.N.D. and the M.E. Support Group for Devon.

"Perfect", "Magic", "Wonderful" and "Fabulous fun" - thank you so much for all the tributes, thanks and praise for our recent short break to Brittany!

It's always nice to know when people really enjoy something!

This was a classic Social Group weekend though - everyone really did enjoy a marvellous time!

The crossings were great, the sea was flat, and the weather in France sunny and warm enough to walk around in a t-shirt!

The meal on the Val de Loire was a gastronomic delight and the restaurants in France were out of this world! None of us will ever forget the terrific atmosphere in that creperie in Roscoff at the end of Saturday! Thanks to everyone for being such good company!

We feel that members of the group, old and new, got together to join in and have a lovely weekend, making lots of new friendships! This was the Social Group as it was always meant to be and thoroughly enjoyed by one and all!

Special thanks to all the nice people we met in Brittany, our excellent guide at the 11th centure Josselin Chateau who gave us such a fascinating tour, to our superb driver Paul, and to Brittany Ferries, to whom we have just presented a SPECIAL SOCIAL GROUP AWARD FOR QUALITY & HOSPITALITY!
